The information below reflects the requirements to obtain a Georgia Secure ID.įor details on GA REAL IDs, see the DDS' guide and FAQs.
A Secure ID allows you to use your license for domestic travel and entry into federal and military buildings.
I also took the manual lessons on top of the normal ones, those were less focused on developing habits cause the instructor knew I already got my G2 and it was a lot of practice on shifting and using a clutch.Īnd your last lesson will be a mock g2 test with your instructor, they use the same grading sheet the MTO does. The Georgia DDS began issuing federally-compliant REAL ID driver’s licenses-called the SecureID-in 2012. We also did one lesson on emergency maneuvers and emergency braking so you know what it feels like to swerve around something or slam on the brakes and stay straight at 50-60km/h. Did parallel parking and 3 point turns extensively.
What the instructors (or at least mine) taught was good habits, like moving to the right after turning, hitting the correct lane when turning, how to safely wait in an intersection to turn left, shoulder checks, scanning the road for hazards or morons, and then a fair bit of highway driving, merging etc. Most of what they taught in the classroom portion was the rules and laws of the road and how they affect you, situational awareness like how to negotiate different types of intersections etc. I'm probably the wrong person to ask as I've been racing since I was about 11-12 and learned to drive a car and tractor super young on my family's property.
